Recently, our colleague Frédérique Neys went on a sports orthopedic trip to Brazil. Based on our experience with cryotherapy and injury prevention we were asked to join Waegener on this journey.
Frédérique was there to coach Brazilian first division football coaches and physiotherapists. She informed them on the way we work in Antwerp and explained them the benefits of cryotherapy during rehab. Her contact in Brazil was Dr. Marc Bosiers, vascular surgeon. During the last 10 years, Dr. Bosiers has been working for several medical companies in Brazil. He’s main job is learning new surgeon techniques to local doctors.
Dr. Neves – head of the medical staff of the Seleçao – was very interested in the way we approached injury prevention for the Belgian Red Devils on the way to the World Cup. Fred was invited by the FC Santos head physio to share the Move to Cure ideas:
‘I had a great chat on how we would treat several injured players from FC Santos. We’ll keep in touch in the future.’ – Frédérique Neys
Dr. Cohen, orthopedic surgeon, was so kind to give a tour in his orthopedic center. And on the last day of this enriching journey Dr. Rogerio Neves, exercise physiologist of the Brazilian national squad and Sao Paolo FC, guided the European visitors through the training facilities of Sao Paolo FC.
